An Edwardian Silver Folding Travel Clock Retailed by Asprey’s London

Retailed by Asprey’s London

Made by William Base and Sons, Silversmiths, Birmingham

A very handsome silver engine turned case with a garnet set into the top of its case. The front catch can be pushed and the beautifully hinged box opens to reveal a fine white enamel Arabic dial with beautiful skeletonised blued steel hands folding out on a silver strut forming a standing travel clock.

This is a beautiful example of the finest Edwardian silversmithing which displays the utmost attention to detail and craftsmanship that were used in only the finest of artifacts of this period. The case displays all the refinements of the exquisite cigarette boxes that were highly fashionable at the time but is in the form of a very usable little desk clock.

It has a fine Swiss made nickel plated eight day movement that has been fully cleaned and serviced.

This is a beautifully made box, it is very tactile and a pleasure to hold and to use. It is running well and will give good service and many years of pleasure to its new owner.

Fully overhauled with a one year guarantee

The enamel dial has been exquisitely produced in fine enamel with beautifully formed Arabic chapters. There is no damages or marks. The finely made Swiss movement has been completely dismantled and fully cleaned and overhauled. It is running well and keeping time within +/- 5 minutes per week. The clock is a beautiful piece of fine silver and will give many years of pleasure to the new owner.

What our customers say

I have used The Clock Clinic previously before moving away from the area. I required a replacement clock face for a family heirloom and initially sought help from a shop in Surrey which turned out to be extremely unhelpful, dismissive and rude. I called the Clock Clinic, and Elly could not have been more helpful!  Elly spent time researching our problem, found another solution which was spot on for us, but did not result in a "sale" for them. Real "above and beyond" service, absolutely brilliant.  Highly recommend.

Highly professional and courteous service from the Clock Clinic.  Serviced one Baume & Mercier watch in a timely manner, replacing a used strap with a good-looking replacement. Repaired another (when others couldn't) and got it working without any attempt to "up-sell" services.  Much appreciated, I would recommend Alastair, Hilary and the team.

Best watch experts in London. I took my Emporio Armani watch to get the screen repaired to multiple watch shops and they were unable to have it fixed. I even sent it back to the manufacturer and they were unable to repair it. I brought it into the Clock Clinic and they were able to repair the watch in a timely manner for a great price. Friendly and expert service. I recommend this place to anyone. Thanks team!
