A delightful antique French miniature brass timepiece carriage clock.

Circa 1880

The miniature fully glazed polished brass corniche style case has a pivoted carry handle to the top.  The white enamel Roman dial has blued steel hands.

The single gong barrel movement has an original silvered platform cylinder escapement, the back plate with Margain maker’s stamp and regulation calibration.

Height: 3 in. (7.5 cm.) handle down

Width: 2 in. (5 cm.)

Depth: 1 ¾ in. (4.5 cm.)

Condition

This clock is in excellent condition with only minor marks and light surface scratches consistent with the age of the clock. The brass is clean and fairly bright with only very light tarnishing. The glazed panels are complete with no visible damages.

The enamel dial is in perfect condition with no visible damages.

The movement has been fully cleaned and overhauled. It runs well and keeps good time. The clock will need to be wound and time set twice a week. We expect a clock of this style and period to keep within +/- 6 minutes between each wind.
