A stunning antique French eight day barometer timepiece carriage clock
Late 19th Century
The fully glazed gilt brass corniche style case has a pivoted carrying handle to the top. The silvered mask to cream enamel Roman dial above cream enamel barometer, both with blued steel hands and flanked by a pair of thermometers calibrated for Fahrenheit and Centigrade. The single gong barrel movement has an original silvered lever platform escapement and the barometer movement is mounted to the front plate.
Height: 6” (15 cm.)
Width: 3 ¾” (9.5 cm.)
Depth: 3 1/3” (8.5 cm.)
The clock is in excellent general condition with only minor marks and light surface scratches. The glazed panels are complete and have only very minor chips to two corners, however these are hardly noticeable.
The dial is in good condition. The silvering is complete with only very minor tarnishing. The barometer works as it should. The thermometers are complete however, due to the size and design of the register plates we are unable to determine their accuracy.
The movement has been fully cleaned and serviced and keeps good time as it should; the service is guaranteed for one year. We expect a clock of this period and design to keep within +/- 6 minutes per week.
